Amravati, March 9: Central
Bureau of Investigation has announced an award of Rs. 5 lakh for providing
information about absconders in the infamous Dabholkar murder case.
To hasten the search of
Vinay Pawar and Sarang Akolkar, the Central Bureau of Investigation announced
the award through the press note released today. Pawar and Akolkar are key
suspects in the murder of anti-superstition activist Narendra Dabholkar. The duo
are accused of having shot Dabholkar dead in Pune in 2013.
CBI had arrested Virendra
Tawde, a member of Sanatan Sansthan,
last year. He was arrested on allegations of being the prime conspirator and
providing logistical support to Pawar and Akolkar for killing Dabholkar.
Narendra Dabholkar was
associated with Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti (Anti Superstition Organization) and was vocal
against superstitions prevailing in society. He even gave speeches to promote
scientific temperament among people. Dabholkar fought a two decade long war
specially against practice of human sacrifice in Maharashtra and advocated a legislative bill
to curb superstition. He also accused Sanatan Santhan for propagating
superstition in name of reinforcing Hindu traditions. This according to
investigations, was the cause of enmity between Dabholkar and members of
Sanatan Sansthan. He died after being shot at by two motorbike borne
assailants’ men while returning home from morning walk in Pune.
Pawar and Akolkar and other
members of Sanatan Santhan are key suspect for 2009 Goa blasts.
Sanatan Sansthan is also under scanner for murder another rationalist Govind Pansare.
